It's pretty hard to ignore and understate the sheer explosion Hades 2 made when they surprisingly released earlier this week. It was shocking, to say the least, and took us all by surprise. On top of that, it started a trend this week for incredible game releases, like Animal Well, Crow Country, and Little Kitty, Big City. The Rogue Prince of Persia is another awesome roguelike game coming out, and we couldn't be more excited about it, but it seems we will have to wait a little longer for the release.

On X, the developer of the game, Evil Empire, released a statement about an hour ago explaining that the release is going to be postponed. This appears to be due to Hades 2's release, and with how huge the game is, it could cause some people to overlook what could be an incredible game in the genre. It's hard to ignore just how big the Hades 2 release is, and for roguelike games that are releasing as well, it makes complete sense that they could be missed.

Evil Empire is still very confident in their game and believes that the best strategy going forward would be to delay the game slightly to allow people to get their fill of Hades 2, and I actually agree. The Rogue Prince of Persia looks phenomenal, but I can see how it could be missed in this circumstance. It sucks that we will have to wait, but it's understandable. On the plus side, it gives the team more time to test the Day 1 patch and fix some bugs before release, which has alleviated some stress for the team!

Here is their full statement:

Recently, we were able to ask some questions about the game's performance on the Steam Deck, and it gives us confidence that it will be great to play portably as well! Expect around 40-45 FPS on release.

The release date of The Rogue Prince of Persia will be announced in a couple of days, but it will still be released this month! You can wishlist it over on Steam to prepare.
