Minecraft Dungeons 2 Steam Deck Support Is Being Worked On

If you’re looking for an accessible Action RPG, or want to introduce people to the genre, I highly recommend checking out Minecraft Dungeons 2. It’s a huge improvement over the first game, bringing in more details without getting into the overwhelming depth from bigger titles like Diablo. I enjoyed the game, but it isn’t playable on the Steam Deck. However, that may soon change, and I really hope it does.

Whenever you try to install the game on the Deck, you will be met with a black screen when trying to install Microsoft Game Services. It will always fail at this spot, no matter what Proton layer is being chosen or what update channel we’re on. It’s a shame, considering it’s very well optimized and would most likely run well on the device. Thankfully, that’s not the end of the story, and we may see it becoming compatible in the future.

Over on the official Minecraft Feedback website, Steam Deck support for the game was brought up, and it got an official reply yesterday. In it, they acknowledge the feedback and have said that the team is working on support, and they hope to share more information soon. It doesn’t give a timeline on when it could happen, but it’s still an acknowledgment of the possibility of it becoming compatible.

Ultimately, another game getting support for the Steam Deck is always great, but I especially hope this one gets it. I can absolutely see it being very playable on the Deck with how well it was running on the Xbox Ally X. Time will tell for sure, but I do hope it comes soon so everyone can enjoy the experience on the go.
