One of the things I love about the Steam Deck and PC gaming in general is how much customizability we have with our devices. With the Steam Deck, we can use something called Decky Loader, which allows us to integrate community-made plugins that can heavily modify our UI. There are some great plugins out there, and I’ve been seeing new ones popping up every day. And over on Reddit, a new one was teased today that looks like it could be quite interesting.

Announced on Reddit, a new plugin is being developed that will actually show your heart rate from your Apple Watch while gaming. Developed and posted by Junior-Doctor-9102, this plugin will show your heart rate in real time in the corner of the screen, and it sounds like the perfect way to see how your heart rate may change in horror games, which is something I would imagine a content creator or Twitch streamer would love.
Currently, the plugin is pretty simple: it connects to the Apple Watch and has eight different locations where the heart rate can appear on the screen. It also appears that you’ll need to set a launch option to make it appear, based on the current plugin UI. The entire plugin is still a big work in progress, but it’s a cool idea that could be interesting to play around with.

Junior-Doctor also asked the community via the post about their thoughts, and there are some interesting ideas. One user brought up supporting Garmin and Android watches and adjusting the UI a bit; a lot of people were talking about how much they love the idea. I am definitely one of those, and think this is a really interesting idea. That could be quite fun to see when playing intense extraction shooters or horror games.
There’s no release date for this yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing it when it launches so I can try it out for myself.
