I love playing the Like a Dragon/Yakuza series on the Steam Deck. It's one of the best series to play on the go, and is one of my favorite JRPGs as a whole. The stories are a great combination of dramatic and hilarious, and the newest entry, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, continues that trend. And yesterday, it got a new update that is pretty great for those of us playing on the Deck.

It was a small patch overall, mostly fixing issues here and there, but they also updated XeSS to the newest version 2.0.1, which I was quite surprised by. I didn't expect them to bring a new version of the upscaler into the game so quickly, but I am glad they did.
I also decided to check it out on the Deck, and it has some pretty great results. I was seeing some sizable improvements to image quality and some framerate improvements. While in Madlantis, I checked FSR 2 and FSR 3 vs XeSS, all on Quality mode, which is pretty great. The flickering lights in FSR 2/3 were gone in XeSS, and slight improvements were made to the frame rate (40 to 42 FPS). It's a pretty nice difference, and I will be going back to check my recommended settings because of it.
You can check out the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is available on Steam for $59.99. It is rated Steam Deck Verified.
