Blue Archive is an intriguing gacha game. We choose different types of units that will auto-battle their way through levels, while we utilize special abilities to give them an edge. It’s quite a fun game, but it has been tough to play on the Steam Deck. It has always performed well, but the lack of controller support has made it tougher to enjoy. However, after today’s update, that issue is no longer prevalent.

Today, Blue Archive got a new update on Steam, and it looks like the big focus of it is Steam Deck compatibility. In the patch notes, they note that full compatibility with Steam Deck is supported. Theoretically, this means that it should be significantly more playable on the Steam Deck, both in performance and controls.
So, I tried it out for myself, and I can say that it is definitely improved now. The game seems to have full controller support, with a cursor that we move using the joystick and specific buttons mapped to the abilities to easily use them. They also have gamepad icons attached to them, indicating that the game did get controller support. Compared to how we played the game before, it’s a significant improvement. Performance might be a little bit better, but that was never the issue before this patch.

Outside of that, the patch also mentions a new Steam Deck Startup movie that has been created and added to the Steam Points store. It’s a small video, and not much happens in it, but I would still consider it one of the better videos there, and I like how the Deck logo appears. It costs 3,000 points, just like the others, which ends up being around $30 worth of purchases.
Regardless, if you haven’t tried out Blue Archive yet on Steam Deck, now is going to be the perfect time to do so. It has become significantly better to play this way, and with these adjustments and controller support, I highly recommend playing it this way.
