Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 was the key event on the agenda last night, with a neat little pre-show beforehand that shouldn't be ignored either. Both the show and pre-show had brand new unannounced games to show off, by our reckoning, 16 brand-new games! So we've made a list of every game that was shown, that to our knowledge, was unannounced before. So let's dive in!
World Premieres at Gamescom's ONL 2024:
Borderlands 4 - Coming 2025
Borderlands 4 was the first showing of the main Gamescom ONL show, with a short teaser trailer. It's due out in 2025.
Sniper Elite: Resistance - Coming 2025
Sniper Elite: Resistance was shown in the Gamescom ONL pre-show, and is based in WW2-occupied France. It looks to continue the premise of the previous Sniper Elite games, shooting Nazis from far, far away.
RoadCraft - Coming 2025
If the MudRunner series was all about building roads, this would be what it would look like. And if you're into that kind of thing, we imagine RoadCraft is a game to keep on your radar. It does have co-op too.
We Harvest Shadows - Demo Out Now
A somewhat creepy take on the farming sim genre. With a haunting storyline, this farming sim not only challenges you to take care of crops and livestock but also to protect yourself from whatever lurks in the darkness at night. A demo is also available right now, if you want to be spooked!
A.I.L.A - Coming Soon
In the near future, you are a game tester, and A.I.L.A is an AI that's going to create new and horrifying scenarios for you to test and survive.
Revenge of the Savage Planet - Coming 2025
Phew, that's enough horror games for now, let's take a breather with Revenge of the Savage Planet! This return to the franchise brings in the added feature of local and online co-op, so you can go on your adventure with a friend this time!
Directive 8020 - Coming 2025
Oh look, we're back with another horror game! Directive 8020 is a return to the Dark Pictures anthology, it's been a while since we've had a game in the anthology, but for fans of it, it's good to see that it's returning, with what seems like quite a different setting this time.
Dying Light: The Beast - Coming Soon
Kyle Crane from the original Dying Light is back in this action spin-off. Dying Light: The Beast is a shorter experience, aiming to be around 20 hours long, but hopefully will be a tightly crafted experience because of it.
King of Meat - Coming Soon
King of Meat is a 1-4 player Dungeon Creator and Dungeon Crawler, where you can create and share your own dungeons, as well as partake in dungeons that other people have created.
Lynked - 22nd October 2024
Lynked is a 1-4 player co-op action rogue-like, which is entering early access this October. It looks like it could be a decent game to play on a portable too!
REANIMAL - Coming Soon
Despite what it looks like, this is not Little Nightmares 3, but it is from the creators of Little Nightmares 1 & 2. Confusingly, Little Nightmares 3 was shown off later in the same show!
Herdling - Coming 2025
Herdling is a game about... herding... It looks like you're meant to guide your herd through the world to what is likely a safe place. Given the vibes we get from the trailer, I'll guess that something horrendously emotional happens at some point, and you will cry.
Masters of Albion - Coming Soon, Maybe
Peter Molyneux is back! This time with Masters of Albion, which basically looks like a modern take on Black & White. Mixing RTS elements with the ability to possess characters in the game world to fight with them. The possessing part looks a bit lackluster in my opinion, so hopefully, there's still some more polish to be done before we see this one release.
Floatopia - Coming 2025
You will live in a cute world and you will be happy! Floatopia might be overly cutesy, but you can't deny it has some appealing charm. This life sim invites you to create your own island and visit other people's islands too.
Mafia: The Old Country - Coming 2025
Obviously, we follow up the cute life sim with a game about organized crime! Mafia: The Old Country takes us back in time to the foundation of the Sicilian Mafia in the early 1900s. It's due out next year. This was the last game shown at Gamescom's ONL.
Conclusion
And, as far as I could tell, that's all the brand-new game announcements from the Gamescom Opening Night Live show. We still have 3 days of Gamescom left, with Xbox running the main show each day, so we'll see what's in store there. We'll be sure to bring you the news whatever it is.
