When it comes to PC ports of Nintendo 64 games, one of the first names I heard of was Harbour Masters 64. They started off with their port of Ocarina of Time, and they expanded into ports for Majora’s Mask, Star Fox 64, Super Mario 64, and Mario Kart 64. They have been the best when it comes to ports of N64 games, and it shows through all of the options and enhancements we have in each of these titles. However, time has passed, and it looks like they’re expanding into slightly more modern consoles. Because yesterday, they announced they are expanding support to GameCube games.

Harbour Masters N64 PC Ports

In an announcement on their Discord server, Harbour Masters has officially dropped the 64 from their name, because they have decided to start supporting GameCube-era games. They are upgrading their translation layer, Libultraship (LUS), to support GameCube games. On top of that, they have announced that they are collaborating with Linfadomra on their upcoming PC port: Twilight Princess: Courage Reborn. The team is merging support and development with Harbour Masters, who is going to provide assistance and help with long-term support and visibility.

As for the upcoming port, it sounds like it’s going to contain a wealth of features. This includes widescreen support, unlocked resolution, unlocked framerate, support for mobile and Switch homebrew, mod support, texture packs, implementing some major quality-of-life changes, mouse and Gyro aim, and in-game menus to change settings easily. It all sounds like it has the makings of a great PC port, and with the support of Harbour Masters, time will tell how great it’ll be.

This is actually the second port of Twilight Princess that is around. Before this, we covered Dusklight, made by a different team. They both enhance the game and seem to have similar features. Time will tell just how different they are once Courage Reborn releases, but if you don’t want to wait, I highly recommend checking out Dusklight. It’s perfect to play on the Steam Deck and super easy to set up, and it’s the best way to play Twilight Princess right now.

I look forward to seeing any other collaborations come out of this new support for GameCube games, especially if it leads to Wind Waker getting a port.
