Four years ago, when I first started SteamDeckHQ, I launched the website with five reviews. One of those was Devil May Cry HD Collection. It worked great on the Steam Deck, with only one issue that stopped it from being a perfect experience. However, years after the Deck’s launch, the game got a new update that completely fixes this issue, and it makes it perfect to play on the Steam Deck.

Devil May Cry HD Collection

Finally, after years of this problem being prevalent, Capcom has fixed the videos in Devil May Cry HD Collection to work on the Deck and Linux. Ever since I can remember, the game has always had issues when playing videos. Either the audio wouldn’t work, the videos would be upside down, or they would be skipped entirely. However, it appears this is no longer an issue, as videos are playing perfectly, and the audio works the same.

While the latest update for the game, which came yesterday, did not mention fixing this, it’s the only change that could possibly have fixed it. There was no specific Proton update, so the only thing that could’ve changed is the game itself. However, this was the only thing stopping it from being an incredible experience on the Deck, so now it’s one I can highly recommend checking out, no matter what. The three classic Devil May Cry games in the collection are all playable at 60 FPS and should be a treat to take wherever you go.
