For whatever reason, this week and next week are some big weeks for sales on Steam. Why is this? I can't be sure, but Bandai Namco, Hooded Horse, NIS America, and Aspyr are all having publisher sales that are discounting some of their best games now, with a lot of them being essentials for your Steam Deck library! So which games should you get? Let us show you some recommendations!

Bandai Namco Sale (Variety)

Elden Ring - $39.59 (34% Off) (SDHQ Review)

Elden Ring 1

I am sure everyone has heard about Elden Ring by now. It is one of the greatest, if not the best, soulslike games to exist. Utilizing an open world, you will run around and destroy gigantic monsters in the grueling combat FromSoftware has cultivated. If you enjoy soulslike or action RPG games at all, this isn't a game you will want to skip.

Little Nightmares 1+2

LittleNightmares2Stock1

The Little Nightmares duo are a pair of creepy, suspense-filled adventure games. They are set in odd, distorted worlds that make you want to run and hide. These games are fantastic adventures, and they are great on the Steam Deck!

Scarlet Nexus - $11.99 (80% Off) (SDHQ Review)

ScarletNexusRecommendedBuild4

An exciting and enjoyable action JRPG. Taking place in a world caught between technology and psychic abilities, you will harness your talent to fight against deranged mutants who are here to feed on human brains. Scarlet Nexus is a ton of fun with its real-time combat and managing both conventional attacks and psychic abilities.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - $14.99 (75% Off)

DBZK8

This is the Dragon Ball Z RPG that everyone has been waiting for! As Goku and friends, you will travel around through the first three arcs of the DBZ series: The Saiyan, Frieza, and Cell arcs. You will be able to complete side quests, cook, train, and level up through the RPG mechanics to overcome. The game has 2 season passes, but only the first season pass is on sale for 50% off.

Tales of Series

TalesofBerseriaStock1 1

One of my other favorite JRPG series, the Tales of series follows a hero on different quests to save the world. The games aren't connected to each other directly but instead share similar mechanics and terms to describe the mechanics and the world. The newest game, Tales of Arise, isn't on sale, but the other 4 games in the series on Steam are!

Other than these games, there are some other awesome sales going on for various Bandai Namco games:

Hooded Horse Sale (Strategy Games)

Against the Storm - $19.49 (35% Off)

AgainsttheStormStock1 1

Against the Storm is a fantasy city builder where you must rebuild civilization in the face of the apocalypse. You will lead the varying races and work together to reclaim land and solidify a future for the last survivors.

Xenonauts 2 - $29.99 (25% Off) (SDHQ Review)

XenonautsRecommended3

It's time to lead a global war of resistance against an alien invasion in this turn-based tactical strategy game. With gameplay similar to games like XCOM, you will need to train your forces, upgrade your equipment, research new tech, build your armory, and put together your base to get all the advantages you can against the foreign invaders.

Old World - $29.99 (25% Off)

OldWorldPharaohsStock1

If you are a fan of 4x strategy games like Sid Meier's Civilization, you will feel right at home in Old World. In this game, you will lead your dynasty through generations of rule against your rivals, wage massive wars, and avoid watching your empire fall.

On top of these, Hooded Horse also has other games on sale:

Aspyr Sale (Variety)

Borderlands Handsome Collection - $15.01 (93% Off)

Borderlands2Stock1 1

Known for having an insane amount of different gun combinations, Borderlands is a first-person looter shooter you don't want to miss. This collection includes both Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel with all their respective DLC. Borderlands 2 will always be my favorite entry in the series, and it is awesome playing on the Steam Deck.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2

KnightsoftheOldRepublicStock1 1

Another classic that is still wonderful to play, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, is one of the best Star Wars RPGs to exist now. It is a bit old, so it can feel rusty at times, but its excellence exceeds this and shines above any dark spots it may have.

Sid Meier's Civilization V and VI

Civilization6Sale

My 2nd favorite 4x strategy game of all time, Sid Meier's Civilization will see you choose a country to dominate the land. You will need to raise an army, research technologies, manage culture, and determine policy to become the dominant empire. Both of these also have native Linux builds!

There are other games on sale from the publisher as well, including:

NIS Publisher Sale (Action and Tactical JRPGs)

Disgaea Series

Disgaea5

Disgaea will always be one of my most-played games ever. I am a sucker for grinding and watching your character level up, which is exactly what this series does best. All of the games in the series are on sale except for the newest release (which came out 3 days ago). Personally, I love Disgaea 5 and would highly recommend it, but 1 and 2 are incredibly cheap, too:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Series

TrailsReverieQuality1

First, we have the incredible Trails series. This is by far one of my favorite JRPG series and deserves a lot more attention. All the games in the series are either direct sequels or related to each other, which makes the world feel alive. All of the Trails games are on sale and play very well on the Steam Deck, regardless of the badge they have. Unfortunately, not all the games are on sale, which is a bummer, but if you are looking to round out the collection you have, now's the time:

Ys 8 and 9

Ys8Stock1 1

The Ys series is known for being a great action RPG where you will run around with a group of characters and fight monsters in real-time combat. It does have a leveling-up system, as well as a great story, making these games fantastic investments of your time. The two newest entries in the series, 8 and 9, are on sale now and definitely worth a pickup:

Labyrinth of Refrain and Galleria

LOGTMS4

If you have ever played a game like Etrian Odyssey, you will most likely enjoy this one too! These two games are dungeon crawlers, so you will recruit a party of people and bring them into a dungeon continually to complete missions. You will level them up, equip them, and create the best team possible!

Other than these wonderful series, NIS does have some other great games on sale:
