There have been many cases where we have seen the Steam Deck used as something more than a gaming device. We have seen it being used to control drones and even the animatronics at Disney theme parks. However, that’s not the end of it, and we have seen a Deck pop up in a new show where it’s controlling a Mars Rover.

In a new episode of British podcaster Tom Scott’s series, Tom Scott: England, he goes to a facility that houses Mars Rovers. Here, he was able to check them out and test drive them, and as we can see in the video, they are being controlled with a Steam Deck. This can be seen starting from the 14:03 timestamp in the video.

I’m not surprised to see the Deck be used like this, but it is still very cool to see. It’s probably the most interesting way I’ve seen a Deck be used outside of gaming, and it makes me curious if it’s actually used like this officially or just for testing in facilities. Either way, it doesn’t change how cool it is, and I’m curious to see how else it’s used.
