I don’t play a lot of them, but I do enjoy sports games. Growing up, one of my favorites was Madden NFL, but I found myself enjoying many of them. Basketball was another, and the newest version of the NBA 2K series is almost here. And for those who may be looking to enjoy it on the Steam Deck, it looks like you won’t be disappointed.

A few days ago, NBA 2K27 received the Steam Deck Verified badge. This badge from Valve notes that the game shows the correct controller, icons, the in-game text is legible, and the default configuration for the controller and graphical quality work well. So, based on this, it should be a solid experience on the Steam Deck.

If you want to save money, you can get the game for $59.49 on GreenManGaming right now.

However, I do have my worries. There has been a string of bad ratings from Valve lately, where they have either marked the game as Verified or Playable when it isn’t. 2K27 may actually be playable, but I did get conflicting reports from the previous game, 2K26, which was not as demanding. Granted, the difference between the minimum requirements for 2K26 and 2K27 isn’t a lot, but there are some slight changes, with 2K27 requiring a slightly more powerful CPU.

Still, I do want to remain optimistic. The system requirements are within what the deck is capable of, so it’s very possible that it will actually perform well. I wouldn’t expect to play at anything higher than 30 FPS on low settings, but I do have hope.
