The Steam Deck is a device that starts to bridge the gap between PC and console, and in some cases, developers may choose to reduce or get rid of graphical options to make playing easier and more straightforward. Sadly, this can sometimes lock settings away that could make the game run a bit better, and that's exactly what happened with The Thaumaturge. Luckily, the new update fixes this, so we can finally set the game up to look and run better than the default!

Prior to this update, the graphical options for the game were locked away. This gave us a low graphical preset using FSR 3 and Frame Generation. Sadly, this upscaler isn't the best for The Thaumaturge, and there were more drops with reduced graphical quality. In our review, I recommended using a launch option to trick the game into thinking it wasn't being played on a Steam Deck to unlock these options so we can use XeSS to upscale. Now, we don't need that, and I can confirm graphical options are there and XeSS is an upscaler option!

On top of that, there were a bunch of general improvements, like the ability to disable subtitles, tutorial videos playing properly, lighting and navigation improvements, UI tweaks, and missing translations, which are now fixed. Many quest-related issues were fixed as well, and some overall optimization has improved stability in some of the heavier areas of the game.
