One of my favorite survivors games recently, that I had the pleasure of reviewing, is TerraTech Legion. Well, the general gameplay is the same as others in the genre, we will instead be modularly building a vehicle while killing enemies. It’s a fantastic experience, and quite possibly one of the most unique iterations of this genre that I’ve seen lately. And it seems as though it is going to be getting better on the Steam Deck, as the latest update brings in a brand new graphical profile for the handheld.

The new update brings in a lot of improvements and new visuals, but for us on the Steam Deck, we have a brand new dedicated graphical profile. This means we have a dedicated preset that has specific settings for the Deck. It locks all the specific settings below, but it seems to be mostly at high settings, with a few medium, foliage off, and using DX12. Before, the game would default to Low, and the new preset is a fantastic step forward in graphical quality.
However, I have noticed the performance is a little worse than our recommended settings. Our mix of high and medium settings, as well as using Vulkan, was able to stick to 60 FPS throughout, but the Steam Deck preset does have some drops here and there. Even when I got it to switch to Vulkan, it still had a few too many drops for my liking. So, while it’s nice to see this, I’d recommend sticking to our recommended settings instead of the preset provided. Still, I love seeing the care from the studio; it just isn’t up to my higher standards.
Other than the Steam Deck changes, there have been some new visuals added for corrupted blocks that we can add to our vehicle. There were also some specific changes to these blocks. FSR 3 will now use the standard names for its quality options to make it less confusing, skills have been adjusted, the game will now remember the last planet you played on, and more. They also previewed what’s going to be coming in the next update, including block, banning, scrapping, and other fixes.
You can check out the full change log for the update via their Steam Community Post.

TerraTech Legion is $9.99 on Steam.
