Steam Deck Verified/Playable Highlights 11/20/23 - 11/26/23

Another week has gone by and that means we have some new games joining the Steam Deck Verified/Playable family! There weren't a ton of big AAA games that were added, but we do have some awesome indies and games that were upgraded to Verified from Playable! Here are the highlights we found:

Verified or Playable games don't automatically mean they work amazing out of the box. Some of these games may require work to optimize and play well. Here are our thoughts on the Verified system and how it can be fixed.

Steam Deck Verified/Playable Highlights 11/20/23 - 11/26/23

Amnesia: The Bunker (Verified)

Amnesia: The Bunker is a first-person horror game set in a WW1 bunker. A relentless, AI-driven monster stalks you. Survival depends on finding tools, crafting items, and keeping the lights on.

The game is currently on sale for $17.49 until tomorrow, then it will go back up to $24.99. It is rated Verified.

Slime Rancher 2 (Verified)

Continue the adventures of Beatrix LeBeau as she journeys across the Slime Sea to Rainbow Island, a land brimming with ancient mysteries, and bursting with wiggly, new slimes to wrangle in this sequel to the smash-hit, Slime Rancher.

The game is currently on sale for $22.49 until tomorrow and will go back up to $29.99. The game is rated Verified.

Unto the End (Verified)

Unto the End sees you play an average warrior trying to get home to their family. Kill everything you see or look for ways to avoid bloodshed. Sword fighting is challenging and unforgiving. It demands practice and recognition of subtle tells. Likewise, finding peaceful resolutions requires keen observation of your opponents and their surroundings. The choice is yours.

The game is currently $7.49 for the Autumn Sale until tomorrow and will go up to $14.99 afterwards. It is rated Verified.

Killsquad (Playable)

Hack and slash? Check. Twin-stick-shooter? Check. 4 player coop to slay hordes of aliens & bosses with your friends? Check. Skills, upgrades, weapons, gears, talismans and more to make you stronger? Check. Wake up, bounty hunter. We have a mission for you. Time to clean up the scum of the galaxy.

The game is currently $11.99 until tomorrow, which will go up to $29.99 afterwards. The game is rated Playable due to sometimes not showing Steam Deck controller icons, some small in-game text, needing to use the virtual keyboard, and needing to set the resolution manually.

Final Fantasy VIII (Playable)

Take part in the eighth entry in the Final Fantasy series. Join Squall Leonheart, Seifer, Rinoa, and others to defeat an evil sorceress and save their world. Take part in unique turn-based combat in an epic JRPG adventure. The game comes with some quality of life features like high speed modes, as well as some battle assistance toggles.

The game is $11.99 and rated Playable due to the game having a launcher that needs touchscreen input, needing a community controller configuration, sometimes showing non-Steam Deck controller icons, and the game requires enabling controller support through in-game settings.

Crypt of the Necrodancer (Verified)

Crypt of the NecroDancer is an award winning hardcore roguelike rhythm game. Move to the music and deliver beatdowns to the beat! Groove to the epic Danny Baranowsky soundtrack, or select songs from your own MP3 collection!

The game is currently $2.99 for the Autumn Sale and will go up to $14.99 after tomorrow. It is rated Verified.

Bzzzt (Verified)

Jump into the retro-future world with the nostalgic arcade journey of a tiny robot ZX8000! Experience an engaging story, upgrade your robotic abilities, challenge yourself in stages full of ever-changing gameplay mechanics and compete with other players in global and friends leaderboards.

The game is $11.99 and rated Verified. It also has a native Linux build, which is always a pleasure.

SteamWorld Build (Playable)

Break ground on a new frontier as the planet dies around you! Dig deep and build wide to excavate long-lost spacefaring technology, while ensuring everyone has the vital water, fuel and creature comforts they need! Do you have what it takes to reach the final frontier?

The game will be released in 4 days on December 1st and is rated Playable due to some small in-game text.

In Stars and Time (Verified)

Live with the ever-present burden of being trapped in a time loop only you can know about in this turn-based RPG. Create a better future for you and your friends. Find hope where there is none left. Pray to the stars and free yourself from time.

The game is $19.99 and rated Verified.
