There were some rumors circulating over the past few days, and they've been confirmed to be true, with 1047 Games unveiling Splitgate 2 today! We haven't got too much info yet, other than that the game will be launching next year.

The follow-up to the 2021 hit FPS Splitgate, which amassed over 22 million downloads while it was live as well as receiving critical acclaim, was shown in a cinematic trailer which you can check out below:

Bringing back its unique multiplayer portal-hopping mayhem, Splitgate 2 is bigger and better than ever.

With three unique factions, players will be able to choose their preferred play style and execute the strategy of their choosing across a large variety of arenas, weapons, and modes to keep things fresh. You can hop into the battle alone, or with your friends.

The announcement trailer above showcases some of the faction gameplay, with multiple playstyles and load-outs showcasing the different strategic team setups you can go for.

You can download the free Splitgate 2 Companion app over at www.splitgate.com. The app will let you delve into the series’ universe through collectibles that will earn you in-game rewards at the game's launch, quizzes, and even an entire comic series. The first issue of Splitgate: The Games We Play, a five-issue comic book series exploring the backstory of the characters revealed in the announcement trailer (and some new surprises), is available today - with further issues released monthly.

Splitgate 2 will be free-to-play and will launch in 2025 on Steam. It will have partial controller support, and the system requirements surprisingly aren't too high for an Unreal Engine 5 game, so there is some hope it will run on the Steam Deck. It is launching on last-gen consoles which may help our chances.
