Subnautica 2

Proton Experimental got a new update with some fixes for multiple games. The issue with Subnautica 2 hanging on first launch has been fixed, and video playback should work again in Star Wars Starfighter. We also have fixes for Far Cry 4 hanging during launch and War Thunder crashing when pressing "To Battle!"

The new update should automatically download if you already have the experimental layer. If not, just search for Proton Experimental in the Steam store on your Steam Deck and download.

Proton Experimental 5/26/26 Update Changelog:

  • Fixed War Thunder occasionally crashing when pressing "To Battle!".
  • Fixed video playback in STAR WARS Starfighter.
  • Fixed sound in Idle Iktah.
  • Fixed Subnautica 2 hanging on a first launch after install on some setups.
  • Fixed Far Cry 4 randomly hanging during launch.
  • Fixed Squad randomly hanging on health warning screen on launch.
