The next big stable update for Proton, version 9.0, may not be released yet, but that doesn't mean you can't try it out for yourself! Valve is gearing the new version up with beta releases, giving us a chance to test things out as they get closer to a full launch. Today, a new update for the Proton 9 Beta branch was released, bringing in some fixes that were previously only in the Experimental branch.
We now have games that were only playable with Proton Experimental, like Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Command & Conquer Red Alert 2, now playable with Proton 9, as well as some regressions getting fixed to make games like Overwatch 2 and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger no longer crash. We also have audio fixes for BOOMERAD, DORONKO WANKO, and NOTTOLOT, as well as video fixes for Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Sea of Thieves. And yes, Borderlands GOTY Enhanced is now playable again!
There are some other fixes here like input issues with Worms Armageddon, Civilization 5's touch-only option in the launcher not working, and cutscene desync has been improved in Immortals Fenyx Rising!
If you haven't yet, you can download Proton 9.0 Beta from Steam by searching for "Proton 9" on the Steam store on your Deck. Otherwise, if you already have it, it should be automatically added to your downloads so you can update it.

Really hope that Worms Armageddon input fix relates to the issue with the keyboard constantly popping up when the text box focuses on the lobby interface.
