I am a huge fan of the Ninja Gaiden series, and I still find myself going back and playing through them every now and then. While I love the idea of playing on the go, I have found it a little difficult to play through the Master Collection, due to the issues with Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3. Even still, I was excited to try Ninja Gaiden 4 on my Steam Deck when it released, and as of today, it looks like Valve approves of playing it on the go.

In a surprise development, Ninja Gaiden 4 officially got the Steam Deck Verified badge. This means Valve has deemed it to be good with its default controller configuration, shows the correct controller icons, text is legible on the smaller screen, and the default graphics configuration performs well.
Valve's ratings don't really give a good indicator of how well a game will perform, but based on the minimum system requirements, it is possible. It's asking for a Ryzen 5 3400G CPU, 16GB RAM, and a GTX 1060 with 6GB VRAM. This is usually about where the Steam Deck starts to suffer performance-wise, but in the additional notes, it does mention that those requirements are for 1080p and 30 FPS. This leads me to believe that maybe, just maybe, 720p and 800p will be playable. It still will not be able to go over 30 FPS stable, but it does give me some hope.
Still, I wouldn't get all my hopes up just yet. Ninja Gaiden is playable at 30 FPS, though it's best enjoyed at 60 or higher. There may also be some very intense combat that could lead to some drops, even with the minimum requirements being where they are. I would say it's best to be cautiously realistic about this one. I want Ninja Gaiden 4 to be perfect to play on the Deck. It would be amazing to take this on the go with us, but it's definitely going to be a tough one to run regardless.

Ninja Gaiden 4 can be pre-purchased for $69.99 ahead of its October 20th release date.
