We could have told you this one ourselves, but there have been rumors circulating that the upcoming PlayStation 6 handheld would launch with a $600 price tag, which has since been dismissed by hardware leaker KeplerL2, known for leaking plenty of information about the upcoming console generation, saying that a $600 price tag is "definitely not possible right now."

Given that the PS6 Handheld is rumored to be shipping with 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM, I would be shocked if it launched anywhere near the $600 rumored price. Other handheld manufacturers such as Lenovo and GPD are now charging in excess of $1,500 for their 32GB devices; I think Sony is likely looking closer to the $800-900 mark for their upcoming 24GB handheld, given that they can also subsidize any losses on hardware with their locked ecosystem of the PlayStation Store.

Indeed, later on in the discussion, KeplerL2 doesn't seem surprised if the PS6 handheld launches around the $1000 mark

A PlayStation Portal OLED version was seemingly leaked at the start of 2026, slated to release later this year, but we've yet to hear about that either. It might be a slightly more affordable option than the PS6 handheld if you want a handheld PlayStation device in the future, though.
