Anbernic has officially announced the RG Rotate, a rotatable device with a swing hinge.
Over on the company's official YouTube channel, they've dropped the reveal trailer for their upcoming handheld, the RG Rotate, and showed off a few select features of its overall design.
The device will be sold in Polar Black and Aurora Silver, with an aluminum alloy shell and swappable high and low L2 and R2 button configurations. The styling in the reveal video seems to draw inspiration from luxury watches, while leaning into the idea of a “new twist” on the square designs we have seen before.
The video also highlights two different shell options: one made of aluminum and another made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or simply plastic.

While not explicitly stated, the devices shown suggest that the silver model may be reserved for the aluminum version, while the black model is paired with the ABS shell.
As usual, Anbernic followed its usual announcement approach, revealing very little in the initial teaser. More information should begin to surface over the coming weeks.

We have seen leaks of this handheld earlier in the year, and its release has felt imminent for some time. With the official announcement now out, a full launch is likely right around the corner.
Although no specifications were confirmed, the video does show a 1:1 display. The exact resolution remains unknown. So far, most 1:1 handhelds top out at 720 × 720, but Anbernic has previously pushed higher resolutions with its 960p 4:3 panels. In theory, that could translate to a 960 × 960 display here, though it is difficult to confirm based on the footage alone. If that ends up being the case, it could once again place Anbernic in a space that few others have explored.
