Street Fighter 6 has had a steady stream of fighters joining its roster since its launch back in June of last year, and now it's time for Akuma to join the party. Akuma is now available across all three game modes with players able to fight and train with Akuma in Fighting Ground, visit Akuma in his natural habitat in World Tour, and equip their avatar with his demonic move set in Battle Hub.
There are also two new Battle Hub experiences, four new Outfit 3 designs, and as you might imagine, battle balance updates for all existing characters on the roster.
You can check out Akuma's character trailer down below:
That's not all, starting today, the following content will also be available in Street Fighter 6:
- A brand new Battle Hub raid event, “Giant Attack” which pits all players in each Battle Hub server against a Giant Akuma! Accumulate Attack Points by completing various activities, squad up with others in the Battle Hub, and then launch a mega-powered Hadoken to defeat the enormous foe by May 31 for some special rewards!
- Do you think you have what it takes to beat the best of the best? How about a stronger, fiercer, smarter version of Akuma? Test your luck at any of the special Battle Hub cabinets and earn exclusive rewards for defeating SiRN Akuma!
- All 4 of the Year 1 DLC characters in Street Fighter 6 are receiving new Outfit 3 designs.
- With the release of the final Year 1 DLC character comes a fresh new battle facelift for all characters on the roster. Check out all the changes in the detailed patch notes here.
- All 22 Street Fighter 6 characters now have a brand new Recovery Drive Reversal move that can be performed while getting back up from a knockdown!
- Head to Fighting Ground and perfect all new combos for select characters via Combo Trials due to the battle balance update.
- Want to listen to specific BGM tracks while doing battle? No problem! Check out the new Character BGM Settings in the Audio tab and turn the volume to 11! There’s also a new BGM bundle available for purchase via Dive Tickets or Fighter Coins featuring songs from the Street Fighter series!
- All new challenge screens are available to spice things up as you gear up for a fight!
- Head to the Shop and check out all the new Avatar items available to deck out your Avatar and fight with a fresh new fit!
The release of Akuma marks the end of Year 1 of Street Fighter 6. So we can probably expect a Year 2 Pass will be made available in due course to gain access to any DLC that is released over the next year.

Street Fighter 6 is available on Steam for $59.99 and is rated as Verified on Steam Deck according to Valve's testing. We confirmed in our own review that despite a couple of issues, the game is perfectly playable on the Steam Deck.
