The Steam Frame Will Have An Enthusiast Kit With A Hot-Swappable Battery

Each day, we are inching closer to the release of Valve’s new hardware, and I can’t wait. Personally, I’m most excited for the Steam Frame, as it’s going to be my way of getting back into VR. With that in mind, we are starting to see more information drop for both of these, but today, some new documents were uploaded to the FCC website, not only giving us a look at the internals of the controllers for the Steam Frame, but also at a first look at the device’s manual.

On the FCC website, and first spotted by Brad Lynch on Twitter/X, there are 6 new documents that we can look at. This includes the external photos for the controller, internal photos to see the inside of the controller, photos of the setup for the FCC test, and the user manual statement for the Steam Frame.

There’s a lot of great info here, and it’s cool seeing the inside of the controller. However, the most interesting part to me was actually the confirmation of a Hot-Swappable Battery Pack in the user manual statement. Labeled as the “Enthusiast Kit”, it seems this will include a swappable battery pack for the Steam Frame headset. The battery on the headset is located towards the back of the head strap, so this could indicate that the enthusiast kit is going to include a new type of strap where we can switch out the battery, or the strap may be able to open up and allow us to swap out the battery already.

To add on to it, it sounds like the enthusiast may also include other parts. The wording on the manual says it “also includes” the battery pack, which means it could be just one of multiple different items that come with this kit. I wouldn’t be surprised, since if it was just one item, they could just say it’s a battery pack, but it’s still cool to see.

The announcement for the Steam Frame is going to come any day now, and with all this information coming out about it, I couldn’t be more excited for the release.
