Nexon celebrates the anniversary of its looter shooter title The First Descendant, by hosting a Descendant Fest 2025. The livestream shared updates on the upcoming Breakthrough update that will bring new content like massive Axion Plains fields, the Hover Bike vehicle, the Colossus Field Raid, the new Descendant Nell, and the NieR: Automata crossover.

Axion is the new major area in the coming update, where players take part in large-scale battles, unveil new dungeons, and much more. The Colossus Field Raid features a deadly boss, a wall crasher, and powerful enemies, as it offers 8-player activity. The enemies in this field are slow and come with powerful shockwaves, deadly strikes, and an area of effect attack in combat. Make sure to use Descendants strategically to take down the formidable foes.
The first-ever collaboration crossover with NieR: Automata was also showcased by Nexon during Descendant Fest 2025. This features NieR: Automata's iconic protagonists 2B and A2. Players can see the lethal androids in The First Descendant’s game world, as they were designed for warfare against machine lifeforms, animations, and decorations.
The developers unveiled an infographic that hints at the total player count, regional distribution, and the top three Colossi. This is where most players get defeated or defeat. We also see the all-time favorite Descendants and the most used weapons in the infographic. Fans can now see their personal infographic from the past year on the official website from July 3.
Nell is a new Descendant who is introduced in this update. She can mark the enemies using her telekinetic abilities to deal heavy damage to the enemies and also offers a shield for protection, along with other buffs. She excels in both offensive and support roles, based on her build.
Beom-Jun Lee, Executive Producer of The First Descendant, says, “We’re proud to celebrate one full year since launch and incredibly grateful to all the players who’ve supported The First Descendant over the past year. Your feedback has been invaluable as the game has continued to evolve since its release. We’re committed to listening, improving, and delivering more exciting gameplay content moving forward. There’s still so much more to come, and we hope you’ll continue this journey with us.”
The First Descendant is collaborating with Spotify to celebrate the anniversary and add a festive atmosphere. However, players can find the First Descendant’s original soundtrack on Spotify or other services. Gain the special Spotify Name Card and two new Paints by logging in to the game after July 3. You will also receive the anniversary merchandise and in-game items via the Grab the Breakthrough event on the website.
The First Descendant Season 3: Breakthrough is also getting a demo on Thursday, July 24. The demo allows players to play as Nell to eliminate the enemies with her offensive abilities. Experience the thrill of riding the Hover Bike in the field of Axion. The demo also teases us with the upcoming season and updates.
The developers also decided to launch the limited-time Descendant Boost Up and Descendant Boost Path event on August 7 to support new and experienced players. This will allow the players to skip the early-game content and jump straight into the mid-game Sigma Sector on Hard mode. However, players will be provided with the best gear and settings.
Players can access more information easily using the First Descendant Companion App. It will guide you to see Descendant details, track research progress, receive completion alerts, and check item information. This app grants key game features and updates planned. iOS and Android devices will get The First Descendant Companion App.
