In 2021, Awaken Realms made one of my favorite deckbuilder RPGs: Tainted Grail Conquest. Based on the board game of the same name, I was drawn to its incredible atmosphere and how well it balanced deck building with interactive gameplay. Since that success, They have broadened their horizons in the last couple of years, and they’re making great progress with their next title, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

Launching in 2023, this is their attempt to create an Elder Scrolls-esque open-world RPG. While it is in Early Access, it is already an enjoyable experience. Recently, Awakened Realms released their largest-ever update to the game in the 0.7 patch. It’s also on sale for 25% off to celebrate the new update. It’s rare to see an indie first-person RPG of this scope, and I cannot wait to see what they do next.

This new update considerably expands upon the base game, offering the new land of Cuanacht to explore. It features brand-new biomes to Fall of Avalon, new dungeons to loot, and a plethora of new equipment. One thing I like about Fall of Avalon is how it treats the class system, and this update overhauls them all for a more immersive RPG experience. With all the new weapons and magic abilities available for the player, Fall of Avalon’s latest update allows players to be more diverse in their gameplay.
