New Steam Deck Beta Client Update Changes Maximum Game Resolution Settings

A new Steam Deck Beta Client update was released with some small changes that I actually use quite often. The Maximum Game Resolution option has changed a bit. Options will now be generated based on the display's aspect ratio, and the game launch progress screen will now show a note if the resolution setting is making the game run at a lower resolution than the display's native.

You can download the updates yourself in the System Settings on the Steam Deck. Make sure your update channel is set to Beta or Preview for the beta update, while the stable update should just be available in any update channel.

• The game launch progress screen will now show a note if the "Maximum Game Resolution" setting resulted in the game running at a resolution lower than the display's native resolution.
• Moved the "Maximum Game Resolution" setting from Settings->Display->Advanced to Settings->Display.
• "Maximum Game Resolution" options will now be generated based on the current display's aspect ratio. On non-standard aspect ratios, additional options will be available under 'More options'.
