SteamOS

There were a few new SteamOS updates on the Preview and Beta branches to implement some bug fixes and updates. The Beta and Preview branches both got a fix for the fan speed reverting to BIOS control, which resulted in high fan speeds. As for the SteamOS 3.9.1 preview, we also have fixes for the Steam startup video, framerate limits being lower than intended on some external displays, and some specific fixes for Forza Horizon 6 on the Legion Go 2 and suspend/resume for RDNA 1 and RDNA 2 GPUs.

You can access the beta or preview channel by going into the System settings on your Steam Deck and changing the updated channel to "Beta" or “Preview” respectively.

SteamOS 3.9.1 Preview Update Changelog:

General

  • Fixed a system crash when launching Forza Horizon 6 on Legion Go 2
  • Fixed an issue causing frame limits to result in lower than intended FPS on certain external displays
  • Fixed issues with suspend/resume on systems with RDNA1 or RDNA2 based dedicated GPUs
  • Fixed a regression in seamless boot causing the boot logo to disappear prior to the Steam startup animation
  • Fixed a rare issue where fan speed would revert to BIOS control until a reboot, resulting in higher than normal fan speeds on Steam Deck
  • Security and stability updates
