Are you someone whose family wants to play with your Steam Deck all the time, making it so you can never play it yourself? If so, you might think about hiding your Deck so they can’t find it or locking it up somewhere. Hell, you may even consider buying another handheld to satisfy them so you can be gaming in peace. However, one person built a ridiculous security system for their Steam Deck, and it looks unhinged.

Created by ConroyyJenkinss and posted on Reddit, this security system was built to stop his family from draining the Deck’s battery before he could get to play it. It looks insane, with multiple different parts that all work together to scare off incoming family members.
Looking at the GIF above, it looks insane. They modeled and 3D printed a spiky case to make it uncomfortable to hold, then rigged up a Raspberry Pi with a speaker, an object-detection camera, and a servo motor. Finally, with the script they created, the object detection camera will trigger an audio clip when it sees someone in frame, and if they haven’t disappeared for a few seconds, it will use the servo motor to trigger a taser that is on top of the Deck.
It’s extremely convoluted and ridiculous, but that’s part of the reason why I love it so much. It’s an effective way to scare people off, and it’s so jarring to look at. Honestly, all of the different colors are enough to make me double-take, but there’s no way I’d be getting near that Deck. It’s nuts, but I’d say it’s an effective way to keep away unwanted Deck users.
