The upcoming brutal 2D side-scroller, Slave Zero X, already has a fantastic cast of voice actors attached, and today, 2 more were announced by Publisher Ziggurat Interactive to join the list as the voices of the 4th member of the Five Calamities, The Regent.

The Regent is a mastermind who has perfected the art of manipulation from the shadows. Also known by the pseydonym "Wuguan", the general has discarded his human form and now exists within an artificial body and now believes human beings are livestock that should be exploited. To truly make The Regent come alive, we have two great voice actors who are lending their talents:

Michael Schwalbe

As a director, writer, singer, and voice actor, Michael Schwalbe has had some fantastic role that span from animes to video games. Some hit credits from Michael include Kawaki from Boruto, Balrog from Devil May Cry 5, and Scoppy Banoopy from Bugsnax.

Shelby Young

With a background in voice-over, voice-matching, and motion capture, Shelby Young has played various roles both through her voice and on camera. Some notable roles she has had include Kuld from God of War Ragnarok, Princess Leia in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Leah from the live-action show, American Horror Story.

These two incredible actors join the likes of other voice acting talents such as:

  • Griffin Burns as Shou (Devilman Crybaby, Aggretsuko)
  • Jordan Reynolds as Atavaka (Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Lupin III)
  • Anjali Kunapaneni as Ayesha (Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Apex Legends, Pokemon)
  • Mara Junot as Enyo, one of the Five Calamities (God of War Ragnarok, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen)
  • SungWon Cho as Hercules J. Thorman, one of the Five Calamities (God of War: Ragnarok, Yakuza: Like a Dragon)

Slave Zero X is a 2.5D side-scrolling slasher that puts you in the role of Shou who is on a quest to kill a false god. As a sequel to the original Slave Zero from 1999, you will use your sword to chain together insane combos along with leaping, sprinting, and flipping through the dark world.

Slave Zero X Features:

  • Different Modes to Mutilate: Play through the story, build your combo-crushing skills in training mode, or test your might in the post-story Bloody Palace Mode
  • Hack-n-Slash ‘n Slash ‘n Slash…: Chain together lethal attack combos with your sword and an array of explosive ordinance while leaping, sprinting, and flipping your way through a grim biopunk world
  • An Environment Worthy of H.R. Giger: Conquer mini-bosses and climactic arch-villains in unforgettable combat sequences
  • Brutal Battles and Cutthroat Missions: Battle your way through massive levels, mazes, and boss-rushes in a dynamic 2.5D world
  • Blood-Soaked and Synth-Soaked: Immerse yourself in a world of heavy Drum ‘n Bass and industrial tracks that get more intense as the action heats up

Slave Zero X can be wishlisted on Steam now and has a demo available. The demo does run pretty well on the Steam Deck, though it can drain a bit too much in some combat scenarios. I am sure the full release will not only be more optimized, but will also feature graphical options to configure!
