I am a sucker for unique-looking games that stand out when compared to others, and Skate Story is one of them. You skate your way through the Underworld, destroy demons, and save other tortured souls as you complete your quest: to eat the moon. It looks awesome, and if anyone was worried about how it would be on the Steam Deck, it appears that worry is for naught.

Two days ago, Skate Story officially got the Steam Deck Verified badge, marking it as fully playable and enjoyable on the Steam Deck. This means it should be fully functional with the controller, shows the correct icons, UI and text are legible, and the default graphics perform well on the Deck. Developer Sam Eng also made an announcement for the game getting Verified, which gives me a little more confidence that this is going to be great to play on the go.
Over on SteamDB, I went ahead and checked the SteamDB update that shows when it was Verified to make sure I got the date right, and I saw that the update mentions HDR with the "hdr_support: 2" line. I went ahead and compared that with other games I knew HDR worked with, specifically No Man's Sky and Cronos: The New Dawn, and both of them have the same exact line. This means that the game most likely has HDR support, which is a nice treat.

While the Steam Deck Verified badge isn't the best indicator of how well a game works on the Steam Deck, it is great to see if a game will run! I never really doubted Skate Story running on the Deck, seeing as how the minimum system requirements fit within the Deck's playable range and were shooting for 1080p at 60 FPS in low quality, so I am glad to have some official confirmation.

Skate Story can be wishlisted ahead of its December 8th release right now on Steam.
