There are a few series of games where the entirety of the franchise runs quite well on the Steam Deck. One of those franchises is Resident Evil. The games all generally run well, including the newest entry in the series: Resident Evil Requiem. However, when it launched, it had the Playable badge. Today, that has officially changed, and the game now has a shiny green checkmark.

Resident Evil Requiem

Earlier today, Requiem officially got the Verified badge. This means that Valve has noted that this is a great experience on the Steam Deck. Before, it was rated Playable due to needing to configure the graphical quality manually for optimal gameplay, but it sounds like that has been fixed, and we should be able to just boot it up and play.

Now, there have recently been questionable ratings from Valve. Disgaea Mayhem has horrible graphical artifacting but somehow got the Playable badge, while Halo: Campaign Evolved got the Verified badge but regularly drops below 30 FPS at the default settings in levels where there are large areas to cover by vehicle. Resident Evil Requiem already ran quite well, so I was surprised it didn’t have this badge already, but it’s still important to know that the Verified system isn’t always the most accurate.

Despite that, it is still interesting to see and great to highlight games that deserve the badge. In this case, Requiem deserves it, and I’m super happy that they will be able to market it as a good game to play on the Deck.
