A new Proton Experimental update was released with some fixes for other games and more Xalia support. Forza Horizon 4, 5, and 6 will not show black screens on the SteamOS beta anymore, and Xalia has been enabled for Batman: Arkham City GOTY. Worms Armageddon has also been fixed and will no longer ignore system locale when suggesting a language upon team creation.
The new update should automatically download if you already have the experimental layer. If not, just search for Proton Experimental in the Steam store on your Steam Deck and download.
Proton Experimental 5/20/26 Update Changelog:
- Now playable: Otherworld Legends 战魂铭人.
- Fixed KeepUp Survival having bad performance and crashing on non-Nvidia GPU.
- Fixed Worms Armageddon ignoring system locale when suggesting language upon team creation.
- Enabled Xalia for Batman: Arkham City GOTY's settings window.
- Fixed Forza Horizon 4 and 5 showing black screen on SteamOS beta.
- Fixed Forza Horizon 6 showing black screen on desktops and SteamOS Beta.
- Fixed Proton 11 regressions:
- Fixed Source SDK 2007 and Source SDK 2013 Singleplayer failing to find gameinfo.txt.
