It's a good day for Metal Slug fans, publisher Dotemu (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Streets of Rage 4) and developer Leikir Studio (Rogue Lords, Synergy) have just announced that Metal Slug Tactics, a grid-based tactical adaptation of the METAL SLUG series, will release this fall on Steam. That's not all, as fans will soon be able to lead squads into battle by playing Metal Slug Tactics’ first-ever demo, which will be available for a limited time through June 10-17 during Steam Next Fest.
Want to see what Metal Slug Tactics is all about? Then check out the trailer below:
The trailer features Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma taking part in turn-based battlefields while showcasing how players will be able to advance through Metal Slug Tactics’ campaign of challenging, yet swiftly-paced missions. Each time you play, you'll have to build a squad from METAL SLUG’s roster of fighters, each armed with unique load-outs, before entering the battle against infamous METAL SLUG enemies in fights that will put you to the test.
If you survive the firefights against the grunts, this will lead to pivotal boss battles like the missile-touting warship shown in the trailer above; these titan-sized threats stand between Metal Slug Tactics’ heroes and their march into new areas deeper behind enemy lines.
You'll be able to wield classic METAL SLUG weaponry, leverage skill trees, perks, and a super attack-fueling adrenaline system to outwit and demolish the flanks of the series’ signature villains. The action is backed by an original soundtrack featuring music from Tee Lopes (TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Sonic Mania, Streets of Rage 4’s Mr. X Nightmare DLC).

Metal Slug Tactics will be available on Steam in Fall 2024. A demo will be available for a week starting from June 10th, 2024. The game will have full controller support, and the system requirements shouldn't trouble the Steam Deck, so there shouldn't be an issue playing this one on the go.
