Nowadays, looking through Twitter/X is a nightmare and something I tend to dread doing from time to time. However, once in a while, there's a fantastic-looking game that stands out to me, and I just have to know more. Recently, I had one of those moments when I discovered Liminal Point. Inspired by Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Signalis, Liminal Point looks like a great time with gorgeous visuals and intriguing survival horror gameplay. I was intrigued and curious if developer HideWorks was going to get it running on the Steam Deck, so I reached out to confirm it.

While the team stopped short of fully confirming it, I found out that the unoptimized game is already running at around 30-45 FPS, so it sounds like it will be fully playable on the Steam Deck! The team mentioned that the game will have full controller support, including the Deck. While this specific confirmation was in emails, they did say on Twitter/X that the Steam Deck is their main testing platform, so I would say it's a pretty safe bet that it will be compatible.
Back in the email chain, HideWorks did clarify why Liminal Point should run so well on the Deck. The camera choice and the way the game loads and unloads data has been designed to work a lot more nicely for optimization and gameplay feel. For example, the way a new room loads when you enter a door, which unloads the previous room, which makes it easier to run on any device.
It sounds like the team is not only confident about it running on the Steam Deck, but also want it to run on the device. I am glad, since it looks incredible and I would love to play it this way. The game is still a long way out from release, but I know I will be keeping tabs on it until it does.

Liminal Point can be wishlisted on Steam ahead of its release in 2026.
