Even with a rough start, I still love Hyper Light Breaker. I dig the new Tarkov-esque roguelike feel to it and combined with the beautiful visuals, it is great to look at and fun to play. It does need some improvement, but it being in early access means a lot of the issues found will most likely be fixed, especially the problems we find on the Steam Deck.

Hyper Light Breaker is on sale on Fanatical for $20.99, saving $9 off of the MSRP price.

Hyper Light Breaker

Yesterday, the game's first major update in early access, Buried Below, was released, and it includes a nice fix for the Steam Deck. Most of the game's text boxes have been optimized for better viewability on the Steam Deck, preparing it to get that Verified badge. The team has already made sure the game is optimized with correct settings, full controller support, and virtual keyboard support, so this should be one of the last legs needed to get the green checkmark.

Outside of this, we have a new in-game tutorial system that is skippable, new Crown battle for The Maw, new playable character, new environmental points of interest, two new blades, Cycles have been restructured and now you only have 1 life and you start with 1 health kit, caves can now be discovered in Pangaea, the danger meter has been completely removed, and all gameplay systems had some balancing. Each character also only has one SyCom with multiple perks, instead of the other way around, and EXEs have been updated.

There are a bunch of other updates, bug fixes, and adjustments, so you can check out the full changelog via their Steam Community Post.

Hyper Light Breaker is on sale for $23.99 until May 6th, but you can get it on Fanatical now for $20.99. It's rated Playable due to small in-game text and needing to bring up the virtual keyboard manually.

The Fanatical links above are using an affiliate link, which gives us a little back from sales at no extra charge to you. All proceeds go back into SDHQ and its development.
