Now, this is a development I didn't expect to see, but I am curious about it! Last night, GPD posted a new update on their Indiegogo page for the GPD WIN Max 2, detailing the delays affecting the device's delivery.

In the text, GPD explains that there is no stock for the locked orders and that the upstream supplier violated their agreement and didn't deliver the quantity of 7840U APUs they said they could. They mentioned that the second batch couldn't be delivered due to AMD not delivering it to the upstream supplier as previously agreed upon. This affects all 7840U configurations and one 7640U configuration with 32gb RAM and 2tb SSD.

With how many devices are using the 7840U APU right now, I am not surprised by the shortage. It has affected other models as well, like the GPD WIN 4 announcing a shortage of the APU last month and switching to primarily 7840U APU devices.

Regardless, this is a major accusation, and while we don't know the full story yet, it is clear something happened in the shipment process for these APUs. Hopefully, this gets figured out soon since many people are waiting for their devices to be delivered!
