Genokids is an awesome spectacle fighter that we’ve been enjoying a lot since its release. Its musical gameplay oozes charm. At launch, it had a few issues on the Steam Deck, with crashes and stutters that could happen, but the newest patch fixes that issue.

Genokids

There are plenty of fixes in this patch, with the main one for us being a quick fix that should help playability on the Steam Deck. OpenGL became the default for the Steam Deck after Vulkan started causing stutters and crashes on the Deck. Hopefully, we will get an implementation of Vulkan later on, which should help on Linux and Deck more than OpenGL when implemented well.

There are other changes, including increased healing from clumps, lowered intensity of the low health effect, some balance changes regarding Candy’s damage output, and a slew of other bug fixes. There’s a lot to like in this one, and it builds on a great showing of the game so far.

Genokids is available on Steam for $19.99.
