Some of my favorite shooters to play on the Steam Deck are DUSK, ULTRAKILL, and GLOOMWOOD, all of which were published by the team over at New Blood Interactive. After playing their games and getting the awesome opportunity to meet the team in person, I have become a huge fan of the studio. I had the pleasure of trying their newest release, Fallen Aces, on the Steam Deck at PAX East, and while it wasn't perfect, it was playable. Unfortunately, it seems to have had more issues on Deck since release with more freezes and crashes, but hopefully, this won't be an issue much longer since the team does have it on the roadmap!

According to a post on X/Twitter from the official New Blood account, they have provided an outline or roadmap for what they are working on next. They have some fantastic improvements coming, including the first secret level, more enemies and weapons, and a level editor with Steam Workshop support. But under all of that, they also mention Steam Deck Verification, which implies optimizations to get it running on Deck!

Having played the game at PAX and at home, I would enjoy enjoying it on the Steam Deck. It is tough right now with how unoptimized it is for the Deck, but I do know the team will get to it. They have done little to nothing for Deck yet, focusing instead on releasing the game, and I completely respect that. We can make some configurations to get the game running as well, and a guide for that will be coming soon! Either way, I think this is going to be a game you won't want to miss playing portably.

Fallen Aces can be purchased on Steam now for $12.99.
