EVERSPACE 2 is easily one of my favorite space games. The frantic battles and focus on looting and upgrading make for a great gameplay loop, and when coupled with the wonderful progression system and solid campaign, it is a really fun time all around. Recently, they had their massive Incursions update, which brought with it new events, new gear, rifts, challenges, better controller support, the upgrade from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, and the inclusion of FSR 3, which helps performance on the Steam Deck. To follow it up, we had a hotfix yesterday that further improved how we played on the Steam Deck by fixing a crash that would occur.

The Incursions update did help Steam Deck's playability with FSR 3 and better controller support was great, but there was a VRAM issue that was introduced that caused crashes. It seems this is something that was caused by using DirectX 12, and in this hotfix, you will now only boot to DirectX 11 no matter which option you choose at launch. This should fix any issues that could come from memory.

The rest of the hotfix focuses on a plethora of bug fixes. The fixes vary from crashes and weapon improvements to UI and object issues. There's a lot here, which is great, considering how big the Incursion update was! You can check out the full changelog on their Steam Community Post.

EVERSPACE 2 is available now on Steam for $49.99, but the game is available on Humble's store for 50% off at $24.99 (and even less if you have a Humble Choice subscription).
