I remember when Escape Simulator was released on Steam and how I felt as soon as I saw it. It was hard not to purchase, and it became one of my favorite co-op games almost instantly. Working together with friends to solve puzzles or watch as both of us struggled to figure them out was just a treat and gave me so many memories. Which is why I am even more excited that a sequel is now in development, and Escape Simulator 2 was revealed in an awesome new announcement trailer:
There isn't much to see just yet, but it definitely has a much darker tone to it than the last game, but it looks like they are going bigger and bolder. Per their Steam page, it seems developer Pine Studio decided to go with a sequel to really explore new, darker themes and experiment with new gameplay and puzzle ideas. They are also able to really focus and improve on rendering, networking, physics, and animations.
I was a bit surprised they decided to announce a sequel, especially with the first game still getting updates and new DLC, but I am glad they are! They are also updating their room editor so the community can create escape rooms with better lighting, working stairs, and Sequence animations to make it come to life.

I also did get confirmation that Pine Studio will be working on having full Steam Deck support on release, which is something I am extremely happy with! It also looks like it will have a full, native Linux build as well, and I can't be more excited for it. With how the first game runs on the Deck, I have no reason to believe the sequel won't be great on the go. Escape Simulator is the perfect co-op game, and I am looking forward to diving into it again with the new features and look.
Escape Simulator 2 can be wishlisted on Steam now, but if you can't wait, you can get the first game right now for $9.99 at 50% off until December 19th.
