Despite the issues, I really enjoyed my time with Directive 8020. The sci-fi narrative experience from Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games has some great acting, an interesting story, and tries to blur the lines between the intense story and survival horror. It doesn’t always do a great job, but it’s interesting to say the least. And today, the game officially got the Steam Deck Verified badge after a huge patch that improved aspects of it on the Deck.

You can get the game on GreenManGaming for $40.99 and save 18%.

Directive 8020 Steam Deck Verified

Earlier today, the game got the Verified badge. With this rating, Valve notes that the game’s default control configuration and graphical quality work. Well, it shows the correct controller, icons, and the in-game text is legible. It also mentions that you may need to manually switch the controller in the quick access menu if you’re using an external one.

This comes on the heels of a big update from last week, which had a bunch of improvements for the Steam Deck. This focuses primarily on increasing the font sizes across the UI, as well as making sure overflowing text is clipped. Button prompts have also been re-scaled for the smaller screen. And because of all this, it was enough for Valve to give it the green checkmark.

To celebrate the new badge, Supermassive Games is giving away a custom Steam Deck based around their game and a copy of the game. It looks really cool, especially the gross, red blood clots on the back, so I’m not sure how good that will be for ergonomics. Still, you could win a free Steam Deck, and with the price increases for the device, it could be a good way to get one.

Directive 8020 can be purchased for $49.99 on Steam, but if you want to save some money, you can get it from GreenManGaming for $40.99.
