A demo for the upcoming Action RPG by Eko Software, Dragonkin: The Banished, is now available as part of the Steam Next Fest until March 3rd. The Early Access release is due out in just over 2 weeks, on March 6th, 2025.

Today, Eko Software has taken the opportunity to release a roadmap that reveals their update plans over the Early Access period up until the game's full release later in 2025.

But before all that, you can check out the launch trailer for the demo below:

The Dragonkin demo offers players a preview of what they'll experience in the Early Access release, with access to 3 heroes, and 4 dragonets to accompany them. You'll be able to play through the game's prologue, with your characters already leveled up so you can see what kind of abilities you'll have later on in the game.

You'll also be able to explore the City of Montescail, which serves as the game's hub, where you can upgrade your equipment and trade with NPCs.

One of the end-game content modes is also available in the demo, known as Dungeon Purification, where you'll go up against enemies and bosses of 2 biomes.

The Early Access release on March 6th will include the game's first chapter, where you are hunting down the Poison Dragon Lord. As well as the ability to choose between pre-made hunts and the Dungeon Purification. You'll also have the opportunity to progress your character through the Ancestral Grid, which serves as the game's skill tree system.

You can check out the planned roadmap for the game below:

We also tested the Dragonkin demo out on the Steam Deck, and it ran pretty well. The game defaulted to the Medium preset, which ran ok for the most part, but I'd recommend switching a couple of settings like Global Illumination and Anti-Aliasing to Low, as it ensures that the game stays above 30 FPS for the vast majority of play. Controller support seemed flawless, and 1280x800 resolution is supported.

Dragonkin: The Banished will be released on Steam on March 6th, 2025. A demo of the game is available now until March 3rd, 2025. As we mentioned above, the game should be pretty playable on the Steam Deck given how the demo itself runs.
