While I was skeptical at first, Blumhouse Games has shown that they can really bring out some fantastic horror games. I was hooked on Fear the Spotlight, but Sleep Awake pulled me in even further. However, the newest game in their publishing catalog, Crisol: Theater of Idols, is taking the cake. The survival horror adventure looked gorgeous and creepy, which stunned me when I saw it at Summer Game Fest last year. However, it wasn’t the greatest on the Steam Deck when it first launched. But thanks to a recent update, that has changed.

In an update four days ago, Crisol got some major optimizations to make sure it looks and runs well on the Steam Deck. This includes UI adjustments, new default settings, and overall improved performance. This improved the experience so much that Valve officially gave it the Steam Deck verified badge. This doesn’t mean much sometimes, but it looks like the team has put in a lot of work to make it happen.
You can check out the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.
I can’t say I’ve played the game for myself just yet, but it is definitely on my list. I’ve actually been waiting to play this game and formally review it, and it sounds like now may be the perfect time to do it. I’ll be diving into it ASAP, but either way, I’m glad to see it has improved.

Crisol: Theater of Idols is on sale for $16.19 until July 9 for the Steam Summer Sale.
