Backrooms: Escape Together has been out for a few years now, and it is a pretty solid co-op horror game with some excellent procedural generation. While it has been playable on the Steam Deck, the new 0.12 update has improved a lot of things across the board, including the Steam Deck experience.

This is the newest major patch for Backrooms: Escape Together, and it does a bunch of optimizations under the hood to lay the groundwork of future updates. This includes an update to Unreal Engine 5.6, reduced VRAM usage across all systems, ray tracing optimization, various crash fixes, improved multiplayer experience, and much more. The performance improvements are the big takeaways for the Steam Deck, and the update has also added virtual keyboard support.

Backrooms: Escape Together is on sale for $7.99 until October 6th. It is rated Playable currently due to needing a community controller configuration, showing incorrect controller icons, and needing to manually bring up the virtual keyboard.
