A new handheld will soon be entering the ring! The AYANEO AIR 1S, the next device in AYANEO's AIR line of products, has just launched their IndieGogo campaign, making it possible to help fund the device and get it for a lower price before the official launch.

The campaign will be going for 30 more days, so you have some time to get in if you are interested. While I am reviewing the AIR Plus right now, the form factor is exquisite for a device like this. It feels surreal that I can put it in my pocket personally. So, bring this to a 7840U, a processor comparable to the Z1 Extreme in the ROG Ally, with an OLED screen, it starts sounding like a dream device for those looking for a pristine portable experience, especially with the price.

Currently, there are different limited tiers with slightly different specs:

  • 16gb RAM + 512gb - $800 (Comparable to Steam Deck/ROG Ally)
  • 32gb RAM + 1tb - $955
  • 32gb RAM + 2tb - $999 (Also applies to the Retro Limited edition)
  • 32gb RAM + 2tb Retro Power Version - $1,029
  • 32gb RAM + 4tb Retro Power Version - $1,099

On top of that, backers might get a gift box as well featuring storage bags, baseball caps, thumbstick caps, a mini docking station, fingerprint module, and more. Some of these items are of limited quantity though, so you will need to get in quick.

I am impressed by the early bird price of that first model. The specs are comparable directly to the ROG Ally, but for $100 more, you are getting a more portable system with an OLED panel and hall effect joysticks. The screen is 5.5 inches compared to the Ally's 7, but I can attest to how nice the AIR feels to hold regardless.

You can check out more details from when we covered the announcement, which details the size and weight, CPU/GPU, screen, battery, and much more. This is going to be a device you won't want to miss if you are looking for a premium experience in the most portable form factor.

If you want to support the campaign, head on over to Indiegogo! The early bird prices are only for 100 units and will then go to the Indiegogo retail price. Granted, the retail price for Indiegogo is cheaper than the official, but definitely worth a look purely for the screen at only $100 more than the Ally.
