Do you miss the good ol' days of retro gaming in the 1980s? Well, you are in luck! Today, Atari and PLAION announced the Atari 2600+ console, a modern-day recreation of the original, pioneering device.

Atari2600Console

Launching with ten games in one cartridge, the console aims to replicate the original Atari 2600 system authentically. Thanks to its design and the CX40+ controller it comes with, the classics can be preserved genuinely.

The ten games included with the system are:

  • Adventure
  • Combat
  • Dodge 'Em
  • Haunted House
  • Maze Craze
  • Missle Command
  • Realsports
  • Volleyball
  • Surround
  • Video Pinball
  • Yars' Revenge

On this collaboration, both Atari CEO Wade Rosen and PLAION Commercial Director of Retro Ben Jones had this to say:

Preserving classic games is a priority for Atari, and the release of the Atari 2600+ will make the hundreds of Atari 2600 and 7800 games that have been released over the last 50 years universally accessible. PLAION’s approach to a quality recreation of iconic Atari hardware has made them the perfect partner to bring the Atari 2600+ to market.

Wade Rosen - Atari Chairman and CEO

We’re excited to be working with Atari to bring back the Atari 2600 and help meet the growing consumer demand for retro hardware. For gamers who remember the thrill of playing arcade games at home for the very first time, the Atari 2600+ will bring you right back. For everyone else, the offer is one of timeless fun and the chance to experience a golden age of video games in a way that could only come from Atari.

Ben Jones - PLAION Commercial Director of Retro

The console will be released on November 17th and can be pre-ordered on Atari's website for $129.99, but shipping is only available in North America. Along with this, there are additional launch titles for other cartridges, like Berzerk Enhanced Edition and Mr. Run and Jump, that will be available for $29.99 at launch.

On top of that, Atari and PLAION will release the CX-30 paddle controller bundle, which will contain the paddle controller and a 4-in-1 multi-game cartridge for $39.99.
