Update 5/29/23: The Heroic Launcher Twitter clarified what they meant by DRM content. We have updated the article accordingly!

The next update for the open-source Epic Games/GOG launcher is looking to be a good one! The next update for the Heroic Games Launcher is going to be adding URL sideloading into its platform. This means you will be able to create an option to automatically open browsers going to specific websites, allowing you to automatically open to streaming or cloud gaming sites, like Xcloud, GeForce NOW, Netflix, and more!

This was officially announced over on Twitter by the Heroic Launcher team. While they didn't provide a timeline of when the update will be out, the team mentions it is around the corner, so hopefully we won't have to wait long! We did reach out via Twitter comment for a more definitive timeline and we did get a response:

So from this, we can assume it will be within the next couple days...I think? It is still very exciting!

In a comment underneath, they did say that other DRM content, like some video streaming services, won't work for now due to a limitation on how to load the plugin for it. That being said, this is still a wonderful update and we can't wait to see it for ourselves!

If you are interested in downloading and trying out Heroic, which makes your Epic Games and GOG library accessible on Linux/Steam Deck, you can download from the Discover Store!
