The next major SteamOS update has just been released with some big changes to make it better to play games on. The Mesa graphics driver has been updated with a good chunk of performance improvements and better performance for ray-tracing. We also have greatly improved VRAM management, which may help in some games that use too much RAM, and we have fixes for Zenless Zone Zero and Final Fantasy 14.
This update also brings in support for the Steam Frame Wireless Adapter, as well as a new controller driver for the Steam Controller to control native controller applications when Steam isn't running. The Steam Machine got a new firmware update with a few fixes, including one where CPU performance would be awful when waking up the Machine from sleep until you reboot, and we also have some new audio options.
There are some fixes implemented for non-Valve devices and support for many more. We have more support for different MSI Claw and OneXPlayer variants, as well as gamepad support for the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, KONKR Fit, and AYANEO Pocket S2. And we also have an update to the Linux kernel, which has updates for security and more.
You can download the update by going to your System Settings on the Steam Deck and checking for an update.
