A new Steam Deck Client update was released with a big focus on changing up the Maximum Game Resolution settings. The actual setting has moved, and there is a new note on the progress screen that the setting is set to a resolution that's lower than the display's native. We also have more general Steam Machine compatibility improvements, which are perfect since units will start getting shipped very soon.
You can download and install the new update through the System settings on your Steam Deck.
Steam Deck Client 6/30/26 Update Changelog:
General
- Steam Machine compatibility improvements.
- The game launch progress screen will now show a note if the "Maximum Game Resolution" setting resulted in the game running at a resolution lower than the display's native resolution.
- Moved the "Maximum Game Resolution" setting from Settings->Display->Advanced to Settings->Display.
- "Maximum Game Resolution" options will now be generated based on the current display's aspect ratio. On non-standard aspect ratios, additional options will be available under 'More options'.
- Don't show the "Maximum Game Resolution" resolution dropdown in Settings->Display if all the available options match the current display's native resolution.
