Critter Cove has always looked like an intriguing open-world simulator to enjoy. You will roam around a town, helping to rebuild it while hunting for relics, farming, fishing, and crafting. I love the vibrant look and the post-apocalyptic vibe it has, and there was a big new update that should really help with how it performs on the Steam Deck.

In a new update, developer Gentleman Rat Studios has worked hard to reduce hiccups, lags, and stutters that were caused by weird issues making the CPU block. Now, we should see a much more consistent framerate when moving around the world with not nearly as much CPU power being used. We should also see some general framerate improvements as well, which is great.
The team is going to continue to look for bottlenecks and continue improving the game in future releases, but I am overjoyed that the team specifically mentions and cares about how it runs on the Steam Deck. There's also an issue that was fixed where a player could be spawned at the bottom of the ocean if they drown out of bounds.
You can view the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.

Critter Cove is available on Steam for $24.99 and is rated Playable due to showing incorrect controller icons and small in-game text.
