Relic Entertainment shared the news that we'll be getting a Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition later this year.

The new Definitive Edition for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is optimized for modern generation hardware. Moreover, it will include all content from Dawn of War and its standalone expansions, 4 Classic Dawn of War Campaigns, 9 Armies, and over 200 Maps, all in one game. The game will feature 4K resolution support, upscaled textures, and image-based lighting for a higher level of fidelity. World lighting, unit reflections, and shadows have all been improved, and new unit gloss and emissive lighting will enhance the action more.

Gameplay camera in the Definitive Edition for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is also improved, and there are new HUD and screen layouts that will also support widescreen. The game also has 64-bit support and will support over 20 years of mods crafted by the community.

CEO of Relic Entertainment Justin Dowdeswell added, “The Definitive Edition celebrates the original Dawn of War and preserves the legacy of this landmark Warhammer 40,000 title for years to come,”. Talking about new players, he continued, “Warhammer 40,000 is more popular than ever, and we want new players to experience where the classic Dawn of War franchise began, while providing a platform for our long-time fans to relive it in its entirety.”

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition will be releasing later this year for PC on Steam and GOG.
